Low-Carbon Retrofit by Sancev

The March 2020 order on Retrofit allows the approval of retrofit kits in series and provides a very clear framework for this modification, ensuring vehicle safety.

Retrofitting is the transformation of a combustion-powered vehicle into an electric vehicle, while retaining the original chassis. The combustion engine and fuel tank are removed from the vehicle to make way for an electric motor and battery. This contributes to the decarbonization of the vehicle fleet, with less impact on raw materials.

It’s an ecological and economical solution in the face of legislative restrictions. Retrofit applies to vehicles over 5 years old. Installation is carried out by our network of regional installers.

Sancev was founded in 2023 by Christophe de Charentenay and Stéphane Durand with the aim of accelerating the decarbonization of the vehicle fleet by democratizing Retrofit, a high-performance low-carbon electrification solution.

With a passion for technological innovation and a wealth of experience in the automotive industry, Christophe and Stéphane combine strong technical expertise with a constant focus on competitiveness. They have demonstrated their ability to bring ambitious projects to a successful conclusion thanks to their operational pragmatism. The success of Dacia Spring, the most accessible and best-selling electric vehicle in France by 2022, is a perfect example.

At Sancev, Christophe and Stéphane have surrounded themselves with a team of experts in electric batteries, electronics and homologation, to ensure the development of retrofit kits at the highest levels of performance, reliability and competitiveness.


Christophe de Charentenay
Co-founder

A graduate of the École des Ponts et Chaussées, Christophe has over twenty years’ experience in the automotive sector, within the Renault Group.
President of a Renault / Nissan / Dongfeng JV in China until 2020, he notably piloted the design and industrialization of the Dacia Spring, the most ecological electric vehicle of 2022.

Stéphane Durand
Co-founder

With 25 years’ experience in the automotive industry, Stéphane is a graduate of Hautes Etudes d’Ingénieur.
As Vice President of Operations at Renault, he oversaw production and industrial strategy worldwide, participating in the development of over 60 vehicles.
